Mission
The mission of Dr. Kiki's Sport Leadership Academy (KSLA) is to create a pipeline of young girls, ages 13-22, who are interested in pursuing careers in intercollegiate and professional sports through exposure to career pathways in sport, educational opportunities and engagement with sport industry professionals.
Dr. Kiki's Sport Leadership Academy (KSLA) is dedicated to ensuring all girls access to career pathways in sport.
In 2016, founder, Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes discovered that she had been the only female athletic director at a college/university in the State of Louisiana during her 11 year career as an Athletic Director at Dillard University. After discovering this and reflecting on her career path, she realized that young girls need to have exposure to career pathways in sport in the earlier stages of their development (middle school and high school. As a result, the Dr. Kiki's Sport Leadership Academy was established to provide an avenue to be a resource for young girls.
