Lead Her Forward

Due to COVID-19 we were not able to host a live event. We pivoted and hosted, Women Winning in Athletics: A virtual empowerment experience for female high school and college students who are interested in careers in sports.

During the event, attendees heard from female members of the Pelicans staff who provide professional expertise to the team in areas such as coaching, athletic training, nutrition, mental health and wellness, and communications/marketing.

Pelicans staff members participating in the event included: Ashley Amoss, video producer; Jana Austin, assistant
athletic trainer; Jenna Rosen, director of mental health & wellness; Ariel St. Julien, team dietitian; and Teresa
Weatherspoon, assistant coach.

Respected sports journalist Jennifer Hale with Fox Sports (NBA & NFL) and founder of Sports Sidelines co-
hosted the event with Dr. Kiki Baker Barnes, athletic director at Dillard University and founder of SYWACIA™.

This is the second year that the SYWACIA™ has partnered with the Pelicans and Dillard University Athletics to
introduce girls and young women to careers in sports.
